Annual Classes
Annual classes at the Duluth School of Ballet begin begin mid-August and run through May. We offer an Early Childhood Program for children ages 3 through 6, with each level being age-specific and based on what a child of that age should be able to handle. For students age 7 and up, we offer classes in Classical Ballet and contemporary.
Registration for our annual classes opens the end of April and continues through the beginning of November. If you have specific days and times that you must have for classes, we suggest you register as soon as possible. Our classes fill up quickly.
At the end of our school year, we give a series of Spring Performances, featuring a full-length children's ballet created by Artistic Director Peter Garick. These performances, which last about an hour and fifteen minutes each, are held the first weekend following Memorial Day at the Gwinnett Performing Arts Center, a part of the Gwinnett Civic Center complex. All students are eligible to participate. We give five performances, but most students appear in only one of the five. The school is divided into casts, with our older students performing the lead roles.
Children between the ages of 3 and 6 go into our Early Childhood Program. You should choose the level based on your child's age in September. Click HERE for a description of these classes.
Children age 7 and up will go into either the Lower or Upper Division classes, depending on their level of training. Lower Division classes consist of Grades I-A, I-B, and II-A. Upper division classes consist of Grades II-B, III, IV, and V All levels for Grade II-A and up require an audition for new students to ensure they are being placed in the proper level. Click HERE for a description of these classes.
Children who are at least 8 years old and have completed at least one year of ballet may also take contemporary classes. Click HERE for a description of these classes.
