About Our Spring Performance
At the end of each school year, The Duluth School of Ballet produces a series of Spring Performances, featuring an original children's ballet created by Peter Garick. All students are eligible to participate in the performance.
A separate performance fee is charged for the performance. Each student gets 5 free tickets for each performance in which they appear.
While we generally give 4 performances, most students are only in one. Each performance is identical, with differnt classes performing the roles.
The Duluth School of Ballet's Spring Performances are held the weekend after Memorial Day, at the Gwinnett Performing Arts Center Theatre, which is part of the Gwinnett Civic Center complex.
Prior to the performances, there are two special rehearsals that take place.
STUDIO REHEARSALS
are held at the studio the week after our regular classes finish for the year. These rehearsals, which constitute a full run-through in costume and makeup, generally start around 5:30 PM and finish about 8:00 PM. Each class has a specific time when they have to be here. You can expect to be here for about 45 minutes. It is during the Studio Rehearsals that you can have an individual portrait of your child taken in costume. Studio rehearsals are not mandatory.
DRESS REHEARSALS
are held at the Gwinnett Performing Arts Center Theatre. Full costumes and makeup are required. There is one Dress Rehearsal for each of the four scheduled performances. The Dress Rehearsals, scheduled for Tuesday through Friday, are held in the early evenings, starting at 5:30. As with the Studio Rehearsals, each class has a specific time when they have to be at the theatre.
You can expect to spend about an hour at the Dress Rehearsal, depending on your child's role in the ballet. Dress Rehearsals are mandatory. Dancers who do not attend their Dress Rehearsal, no matter the reason, are not allowed to perform. No exceptions are made.
Rehearsal and performance schedules will be published in detail this November in our online newsletter.
