Ballet School Manners

If we all pay attention to these, we will have the best ballet school anywhere!

Dancers show respect for themselves by:

  1. Being prompt for class.
  2. Being dressed properly for class and having their hair put up properly.
  3. Wearing something over their ballet clothes when entering and leaving the studio, and never wearing their ballet shoes outside.

Dancers show respect for others by:

  1. Keeping their hands to themselves during class.
  2. Waiting quietly for others to have a turn.
  3. Waiting until the music is finished before entering the classroom.
  4. Talking only during share time, or when spoken to by the instructor.
  5. Not playing with other students' belongings in the dressing room.

Dancers show respect for their teacher and the art form they are learning by:

  1. Coming into class prepared to learn.
  2. Listening when the teacher speaks.
  3. Being prepared to learn.
  4. Always asking before leaving the room for any reason.
  5. Applauding their teacher at the end of class.

Dancers show respect for the studio by:

  1. Leaving gum, food, or drink outside.
  2. Never running or doing gymnastics in the studio or lobby.
  3. Putting trash the proper places.
  4. Putting away books and magazines when they are finished with them.

Parents show respect for dancers, teachers and the studio by:

  1. Knocking before entering the classroom if a class is in progress.
  2. Having students ready for class before entering the classroom.
  3. Picking students up promptly after class.
  4. Watching over their children while waiting in the lobby.
  5. Ensuring their children know, understand, and follow the school rules.

The studio shows respect for dancers and parents by:

  1. Maintaining a healthy, loving environment in which students can learn.
  2. Providing students with the best classes possible.
  3. Starting and ending classes on time.
  4. Providing everyone with current, up-to-date information in a timely manner.
  5. Always treating parents and students with respect by listening to their questions, and being responsive to their wants and needs as best it can.
  6. Keeping the studio clean and neat.
